​Winter can offer a slower pace, allowing time for reflection and relaxation. It’s the season for coziness that fosters its own version of warmth- maybe reading a good book by a fire, or watching a movie wrapped in warm blankets, or comfort foods that require you to slow down and savour the process of preparing and sharing meals as you spend time with loved ones.
Winter evenings can be inviting and embracing the season's unique charm can lead to a more peaceful and enjoyable winter experience. Winter’s gift lies in its ability to bring people closer, encourage relaxation, and create warm inviting atmospheres.

With all that opportunity for contemplation, and for connecting with friends and making the most of what we have, Winter is a good season for the Stoic!

The Stoic Gin’s complexity makes it a delightful spirit for winter. As the temperature drops, the gin's complex flavours, derived from its rich botanical profile, can be harnessed to create warm, comforting drinks. An array of spices and herbal notes are layered with juniper berries, coriander seed and roots to provide a robust foundation for wintery cocktails.

You could go with a Negroni- bold and sophisticated with a deep flavour profile. It requires equal parts Stoic Gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari. Pour the ingredients over a glass with ice and garnish with an orange twist. The bitterness of the Campari, the sweetness of the vermouth, and the complexity of the Stoic Gin create a perfectly balanced drink that is refreshing and invigorating.

Or you could try The Winter Stoic- our Winter gin and tonic. Try 1 part Stoic Gin with 2 parts tonic and add a slice of in season pear and a sprig of rosemary. Its straightforwardly designed to for you to sip over a long chat as the flavours infuse and the discussion deepens.

Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024!

A big accolade for a small producer! The Double Gold designation is awarded to the very few entries that receive Gold medal ratings from all of the judges- these are among the finest products in the world.

The SFWSC has been running since 2000 and is an internationally respected and influential Spirits Competition. This year there were over 450 gins from around the world.  In such a busy market, our Double Gold medal shows there is still a place for small, independent production that focuses on quality, using an artisanal craft approach to create a premium product.

​The Stoic Gin wins Silver Medal at the 2024 London Spirits Competition! 
 
Your local gin has achieved further international accolade and recognition, following on from the 2023 Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits competition. 

The London Spirits Competition has a unique approach. To achieve the award, The Stoic Gin needed high scores in three categories: Quality, Value, and Packaging. The Competition recognises the spirits that consumers want to buy, assessing visual appeal, storytelling effectiveness, and value for money- as well as recognising excellently made gin!

The Competition was judged by leading spirits buyers and consultants with current commercial buying experience, representing a range of players in the industry including retailers, distributors, on-trade groups, hospitality, and the travel industry. 

So, in this intensely competitive market, we are thrilled that our artisanal and small batch attention to detail has been awarded. Stoic Spirits crafts gin that bar managers and mixologists want to use- and that consumers enjoy!

Juniper IS THE hERO

Juniper is the
​hero.
Juniper has been used in so many ways by so many people over centuries. Apart from its many uses in food preparation, it also has a long history in traditional medicine.

But we of course know juniper as t
he fundamental botanical for gin! Traditionally, the flavours extracted from juniper berries provide the distinctive taste of gin and the name gin derives from the French or Dutch spellings for juniper. 

While I happily call it a juniper "berry" it is technically a modified conifer cone. But in the picture it looks like a fruit! This captures something of the complexity of these little bundles of earthy, piney goodness that grow on juniper trees. Like so many of the cornerstone things we love, juniper defies easy classification and has a presence in our history and imagination that extends far beyond what its humble appearance might suggest. 

The picture shows a close up of a generous serving of juniper berries happily macerating along with coriander seeds getting ready for another distillation of The Stoic Gin. To these core botanicals Stoic Spirits adds a range of other botanicals in carefully balanced measure. They macerate for 24 hours before being slowly distilled to extract and capture the best parts of the complex flavours that are expressed through the distillation process. ​This is bottled at 40% ABV to create another artisanal small batch of:
